A DREAM: Enormous Thunderbird Heads Toward America

“Last night, I dreamt of an enormous black thunderbird heading towards North America. It eventually took up the whole sky. There were massive black clouds in front of it. The thunderbird moved slowly until only its head was seen as it came closer, consuming the whole dome of the heavens. I could see it was a dark, boiling storm, and as it drew even closer, from its eye leaped a thunder god, proclaiming his enemy was in the west, somewhere in New Mexico.
“I was inside a bar/cafe with many other people as the massive thunderbird slowly approached. I was seeing it through the windows. Some of the people I knew, others I didn’t. The thunderbird’s wings did not flap. It was like a giant petroglyph.
“I was very frightened and woke up with a jolt.”
Kentucky musician “JB” dreamed the frightening scenario on June 18, six days after Israel, unprovoked, assassinated top Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists while they were in their homes, sleeping with their families.
“My big archetypal dream” is how JB titled his dream.“I do believe it was a dream about big issues and world upheaval,” he wrote in a June 22 email. “I felt like I was insignificant and not safe. I also know a thunderbird is not something that comes from me. It was pushed into my dream by others.”
No country had stopped the US-Israel genocide of Palestinians in 20 months, so Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gambled he could carry out the stealth June 13 attack on Iran, a country of 10 million people, without repercussions from the international community. For decades, Iran steadfastly refused to be drawn into military conflict with Israel despite US-Israel provocations of sanctions, regime change coups, and the mysterious deaths of dozens of scientists.
But on June 13, Iran fired ballistic missiles into Israel, penetrating the supposedly impenetrable Iron Dome defense system. The attacks damaged parts of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashdod, and Beersheba. Iran threatened to drastically increase worldwide oil prices by closing the Strait of Hormuz. During the 12 days, Israel blasted Tehran and Iran’s military bases and infrastructure, and threatened to assassinate its leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Breaking News
Late Saturday afternoon, June 21, the Iran Observer posted a message from the Iran Military Headquarters on X: “BREAKING:. “Any country sending military aid via ship or plane to Israel will be deemed complicit in aggression against Iran and become a legitimate target.”
The warning prompted me to post the Thunderbird dream on X and write:“ If it were my dream, I fear retribution will befall the US if Trump acts with/for Israel and attacks Iran.”
However, less than four hours later, at 8 pm Eastern, someone on X wrote: “US has just bombed Iran.” Shock and fear erupted at the Sen. Bernie Sanders “Stop the Oligarchy” rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when someone shouted, “The US attacked Iran.” People can be seen on a video replay, crying out, “Oh, my God, Oh, my God.”
At 9:15 pm, Iranian State media warned American citizens and military personnel in the region were “targets.”
The US bombed 3 Iranian nuclear sites, the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, with 30,000-pound bunker buster bombs, the largest non-nuclear bombs made. The US and Israel — two nuclear-armed countries — tag-teamed, attacking a non-nuclear-armed Iran.
The surprisingly strong military response by Iran may have influenced President Donald Trump to order a halt to the confrontation on June 24.
Israel killed approximately 1,000 Iranians, more than a third civilians, and injured thousands during the 12 days. Iranian attacks killed 28 people in Israel. While the drama played out between Iran, Israel, and the United States, Israel slaughtered 870 Palestinians in Gaza.
Global Blowback
I agree with JB casting his dark dream with a global perspective, but if it were my dream, occurring in the midst of the Iran-Israel conflagration, I would also examine the dream in the context of the 12 days of warfare:
> Does the dream foreshadow Israel or the US perpetrating a 9/11 or 10/7 type of event or fabricating evidence, blaming Iran, and manipulating American public opinion to justify US military action?
> Does the dream presage Israel, which has broken every ceasefire agreement, will break this one, too, and cause consequential blowback in the US?
> Is the dream a warning of a nuclear catastrophe? The thunder god located his adversary in New Mexico, where the largest storage facility of nuclear weapons in the US is located.
Symbology
“The dream is terrifying. Sounds ominous, especially as Trump and Netanyahu, with impunity, charge through the door of lawlessness Biden-Harris opened,” I wrote a friend.
The thunderbird, a majestic, mythic creature in indigenous cultures, is a divine messenger. The winged carrier bears a warning from the spiritual realm: a huge storm is headed to North America. Will we continue the suppression and violence dominating our politics since 9/11, or will we finally experience an awakening to our collective humanity?
We must heed the thunderous warnings and halt the angry storm god secreted within dark clouds. We must transform the collective mindset of brutality and division as public policy to a prevailing practice of peace and justice for all.
